The artist

Aviv Yeshayav, known professionally as The Aviv, is an artist based in Hamilton, Ontario. Born in Israel, he spent his early childhood in New York City (ages 2-7) and moved back to Israel for a few more years before permanently settling in Canada at age 11. He grew up just north of Toronto with his parents and two younger sisters.

After high school he enrolled in Honours Mathematical Physics at the University of Waterloo, with ambitions of becoming a theoretical physicist. During his freshman year, he grew more interested in the arts.

Aviv always loved classical music. It was all he would listen to growing up, and he was the only one in his family who did. When he was 20, he started composing for the first time and discovered his raw talent. He envisioned himself as a classical artist: releasing singles and albums, hearing his music on Classical 96.3 FM, touring with a personal orchestra, and making classical popular again.
